My sister and her husband (Natali and Reed) moved to Dallas in October of 2013 after their amazing 2 month adventure in Europe (incredibly jealous).
Jason and I had decided and told them at some point we were going to come out and visit so we could experience Dallas for a few days….. And then I got pregnant…. So we decided sooner would be better rather than later accordingly, since we didn't really know what the future was going to hold. Beginning of January we asked Natali if we could fly out in 2 weeks for an extended weekend over MLK, Jr Day. Needless to say, they were very excited to have visitors and amazing hosts.
We seriously ate SO MUCH good food while we were out there. We were all joking and saying that "all we did was eat"…. but seriously…. that was our primary activity while there! ….. Jason and I were partially to blame though, because we have DEFINITELY been deprived of unique, non-chain restaurants while living in St. George. Accordingly, we had to make up for lost time while we there there! We flew in on Friday and ate out that evening; Reed got delicious take out breakfast burritos Saturday morning, and we we ate out Lunch and had a catered Dinner (Dallas Mavs game); Sunday--ate at home; Monday--breakfast at home, Lunch, then different place for fried pickles (pregnancy craving), then later a Strawberry Cream slush (just one of those moments--saw Sonic and HAD to stop), and then ALSO went out to Dinner!!!……. So in all reality…. Eating really was our primary activity out there! haha!
As mentioned earlier, We totally scored when Natali was able to get box tickets to a Dallas Mavericks game…. so of COURSE we had to buy some gear to wear :)
We also went to an Art Museum Downtown (or maybe it was "uptown"… they are pretty particular about the distinction out there) and got to see Natali's office…. and to be honest, now I can't remember if these pictures Jason took were of Natali's office, or some random skyscrapers because we really don't see these anymore…. but he actually framed them nicely…. which doesn't always happen... so I can't complain :)
While out and about on Saturday, we stopped for the lunch-trucks in the park…. SUPER delish.
We even made it out for the Dallas Zoo, which was fun because Jason and I haven't been to a zoo FOREVER!!! As a matter of fact…. I don't think we have been to a zoo together, EVER…. just an aquarium. LoL.
On Sunday after church, we went to see the "Park Cities" (University Park and Highland Park). In University Park, the multi-million dollar homes were unbelievable…. It seriously was like a fairytale area.
Afterwards, of course the boys had to take a sunday nap (while the girls watched a popular Disney movie that was recently released… about love… and sisters…. that I won't list the title to avoid being judged for watching it through a bootleg link that was posted online …. :) )
On Monday between all of our eating, we did a little souvenir shopping and got the greatest ornament ever for our Christmas tree (** For those of you that don't know, Jason and I make non-traditional ornaments from all of the vacations we go on to commemorate the good times, and then hang them on a small, special christmas tree**)…. A big ole Texas BeltBuckle. Oh Yeeeeeaaaaah!!! I told Jason to not get any ideas and try to wear it…. Those of you who know him, know He kind of has a thing for unique belt buckles. haha.
Natali even introduced me to pickled Okra while I was out there, which I totally loved!!! So I was very excited to find it was sold at grocery store close to the hospital I worked at in Vegas… unfortunately, I haven't seen it in St. George…. and since I'm no longer working in Vegas….. (Can't remember….Did I post that I'm working with Intermountain HealthCare in St. George now?) guess that means we'll have to go visit Dallas again sometime soon! But considering how cool the city was, spectacular the food was, and the amazing company….. No complaints here!!!
