Summer Updates

Things have felt so busy around these parts lately!  I'm in Vegas the first 3 days/2 nights of the week, and when I get back either we leave town or have visitors come.  Accordingly.... haven't had a whole lost of time for blogging lately. Come to think of it, I have just stunk at blogging this year in general. Last year I was averaging two posts a month.  This year it is more like one post every 2 months and when I do post I get so behind I keep putting it off because there is so much stuff I could potentially blog about. Vicious cycle!

1) Enjoying having a Pantry
However our bank account is not :)

2)  Boating
We have been boating at least once every weekend when we are in town.  I totally love the water. However..... my old ankle injury has been flaring up and I haven't been able to wakeboard as much I would like accordingly... hardly at all, actually.  I've been forced in the last few weeks to pick up a new water sport (wakesurfing). I am not very good at it, and that TOTALLY kills me. I hate not being good at stuff. However, I guess for only going x2, i'm not that awful.... or at least that's what I try to tell myself and try REALLY HARD not to compare my skill level to others so I don't go crazy. haha. I think the think that is difficult for me with wake surfing is 1) not having my feet attached like I'm used to with wakeboarding and snowboarding, and 2) trying to get the weight placement down with the limb discrepancy.
I'm pretty determined when I put my mind to something, though.... so hopefully I'll figure it out before too long here.... and work on my tan in the mean time :)
We seriously love boating! .... Though neither of us really likes tubing because of injuries like this:
However, tubing seems to be a crowd pleaser that is always requested when the water gets choppy.... Jason and I usually just sit on the boat and laugh at everyone else out there, but every once in a while we get in the water and are reminded why we don't like it as evidenced above. haha.

Speaking of boating, we've had a few surprise visitors that we've been able to take out like Jaimee/Joey, Amanda/David and friends, and the Barbers!  More about the Barbers to come.... unfortunately I didn't get any pics when Amanda/David and friends were here.

3) Our 4 year Anniversary
I was pretty proud of myself because this anniversary was one of my more creative ones.  I purchased little random gifts that Jason either needed, or I just thought would be fun, and then came up with clues to create a scavenger hunt and hide them around the house.  He was greeted at the door with the following:
And then I had these clues placed around the house (thanks Pinterest for the idea) with gifts including a new wallet, swim suit, board game, speaker covers, lingerie, hand sanitizer, etc....
Unfortunately, one of the clues AND its gift (speaker covers) were placed outside and blew away!!! NO JOKE.  We walked up and down the neighborhood and could not find it!  So depressing, especially since I had spent FOUR HOURS making them. Wowzers.  Such a bummer, but also pretty humorous in hindsight.

Speaking of trying to be domestic, not all of my projects turn out so well.... For example, this one:

I told Jason I wasn't going to pay someone else $75 to make the registration decals for our boat when I could do them myself. Jason handed me two papers and said, "Make it look exactly like this." So I did.
Then after we had put them on one side of the boat and were putting them on the other side of the boat he says, "Wait a minute.... did you do the same numbers/letters in the picture?!!!"
Me: "Yes! You said to make it look exactly like it, and that's just what I did :D " .....
Jason: "Honey, that was just the example. Not the actual registration information.  That was in the other piece of paper I gave to you."
Curses.
I'm not sure how I 'missed the boat' on that one, because I'm not usually such an airhead. Oh well.

4) San Diego
We went down and hung out with all of Jason's family for a few days and it was so much fun!  Everyone (even his brother and his family who are doing residency in Alabama) made it out, so it was a lot of fun. The location of the accommodations was TOTALLY awesome--super close to the beach.... but our room was a wee-bit cozy,
and because Jason and I don't have kids we got the room with no door.  Jason's mom hung a beach towel to give us some privacy, accordingly.
Haha!  Clever, ey?  By about night 3 the air mattress started to get a little old... or at least that's what my back was telling me... or maybe my back was telling me I was starting to get old... I guess I did turn 28 two weeks ago.... But at least I wasn't like Jason who turned 30! haha. That is one nice thing about being married to someone a few years older---you always feel younger :)

I digress.... back to family vacation.
We did several fun things including beach time
Kayaking with Leopard Sharks
Of course a wave comes in an pushes the canoes together, smashing my foot while everyone else is doing a victory pose. Classic Picture.
Late night runs for ice cream... mmmmmmm
Marshmallow Roasting and Smore Making
We were also able to do sealings for several family names in the temple. It was a really neat experience to have all of us together in there.

Jason's mom even organized family pictures which were a little stressful at times trying to make all the kiddos smile, but we ended up getting some good ones so it was totally worth it.
This is us trying to make the kids laugh and smile.

A few of Jason and my "couple shots" and "single shots"
I'll post more of the family pictures once I get them on cd and I'm not pulling them from the photography blog :)

5) ER
Happy pre-birthday to me. On July 9th I went to the ER after work following a week of stabbing pains in my stomach, and inability to eat anything besides liquid and plain pasta noodles.  They thought it might be gallbladder related so they ran a slew of tests including blood tests, CT, etc.... finding nothing.... so then I continued to be violated in their effort to find something the matter with me as they tested me for STD's, Pregnancy, Abdominal ultrasound, Transvaginal examination with a camera.... yeah, it was ALL awful.

The good news is that apparently nothing is the matter with me..... and I will FOREVER remember the last day I was 27.

The other good news, is at least my actual birthday was better than the Eve of my birthday.  My hubby had Flowers, dinner, and a Day Spa gift certificate waiting for me when I got home
And my visiting teachers dropped off this gift for me saying I had "brightened [their] worlds from the day I came into it," and gave me several different yellow gifts to go with it.  So.Dang.Cute!!!!

6) Leidy's Bday
She turned 1 on July 12th!  Accordingly, I had to make her special puppy cupcakes to celebrate.
Thank you google.
She absolutely LOVED them!  Especially the Natural cream cheese and peanut butter frosting :)

7) Barbers
ALWAYS a good time with these guys.

Collin getting some air

Jason and myself doing synchronized diving.
It was an air high five.... but unfortunately Jason took the picture super delayed. lol.

The pups enjoying themselves down by the virgin river.
Mowgli found a stick... more like a log... to play fetch with.  Baloo is chasing Mowgli.
Leidy looking like a little rat after her swim.
Collin redeeming himself with a more manly Javelin throw than the previous blog ;)
Leidy with her miniature ball.  Mowgli with his.
Family Pictures

Can't wait til the next time they come back!

8) Other random pictures:
Leidy and Jason passed out of the floor after playing
Leidy patiently waiting with her ball for Jason to come out of the restroom so they can play again
Babysitting Smoochie (Natali's little bird)
She likes to climb into the shoulder of your shirt and fall asleep when you're watching movies. haha.
The cheese smoochie mutilated..... just trying to spoil her and maintain my status as her favorite sitter.

..... And that about sums things up.... for now :)
