Flood at the Wyson's and Leidy's New Tricks

We planned to go to St. George weekend before last (yes, Leidy is getting very good at this whole road trip thing. lol) to spend sometime with Sam and Joe now that they are home from their missions from Chile, and also to see the rest of the family.  It ended up also being an opportunity to support my family with the flooding of their home :(.
Downstairs guest bathroom
My Grandpa just working away.  Now THIS man knows what it means to be a hard worker.
Front room.... used to call it the Celestial Room.... not so much any more :(
Downstairs hallway
Office
There used to be a swimming pool there.... now it's full of mud.
It was totally unexpected.  A dike broke and flooded like 50 homes, including most of the homes in the neighborhood and home I grew up in. My mom was so down-hearted the first day, but then proved to have such a positive attitude with the entire situation.... including praying to thank God that the sale of their home had fallen through several times, preventing this tragedy from happening to a family who would have just purchased it and had all of their precious belongings in the home.  She is an example to me and makes me re-think the little things I let my spirits get down over.

Even though this was discouraging, it was great to be together as a family.   ALSO, we taught Leidy her first command while we were there.
"Sit!"
She learned it in like 10 minutes. It was awesome!  We have now also taught her to:
"Lay Down"
"Stay"
And "Shake" (right and left, depending  on which hand you put out).  Smart little puppy, ey?
The only bad part about a road trip with a puppy, is having to take potty breaks along the highway.... but better than the alternative I suppose (going in the car), right?
But the stops were worth it just to have this well behaved little sweetheart with us on the drive..... And look how adorable she is with "boyfriend" (her stuffed crate mate).... such a cute puppy!
Funny Fact about Leidy: She will only bathe with Jason on I.  She cries like it's the end of the world and shrieks and fights when one of us is not in there with her.... it was so awful that I decided it was not worth it, and I would NEVER EVER do that again. Accordingly, here is a picture of our little "rat" in the shower.   As you can see, she still doesn't like the shower.... but she "tolerates" it when we're there. You can see it all over her face, "Let's just get this over with."  Such a funny, yet adorable little pup.
