I WISH I could say our 2nd Anniversary was the Best one yet.....

But unfortunately, I cannot..... Most "Memorable"??? Very Possible..... Here are a list of Mishaps that occurred that day:

1) The day started off "well" when Jason's present was delayed in shipment, however arrived ON our anniversary.... but then the office would not let me pick it up because Jason's name was on the lease, not mine, meaning I was unauthorized to sign for delivered packages.  By the time Jason got home it was too late and the office was closed.

2)  Jason is studying for the GMAT and has an online course he is taking that began ON our anniversary. We knew in advance we'd be unable to go out to dinner, so we planned to go out during the following weekend.

3) Per above, I decided to make a nice dinner. My family was in town and using my car during the weekend, so I was unable to get away and purchase groceries. Around lunchtime on our anniversary (Monday June 13th) I set out to go to the grocery store.... But guess who's battery is dead? Yup. Mine. And guess who doesn't know a single soul in the complex to try to come and jump start her car? Yup. Me. So I was stuck at home... crying... an unable (or unwilling) to spend time outside due to the fact it was well over 100 degrees.

4) Per above complication Jason get's Frozen Chimichanga's for dinner. Happy Anniversary.
5) When Jason get's home he jumped my car, and went inside to log-in to his online GMAT course. I decided to drive around downtown Phoenix to give Halee's (my car) battery a few minutes to charge. As soon as I pulled out of complex, I realized I had better not go far because every 60-90 seconds I would lose power like my engine was stalling and when I pushed the gas everything would turn back on. I was thinking..... great.... so much for thinking I would be able to go somewhere and pick something up for Jason!!  I am not only not going far, but I am not turning the car off.  At every stop light (and there were a lot), I would have to hold the brake, but continue to rev the engine with my left foot to ensure my car didn't turn off. So scary. After driving 2 miles I felt like I should go home, so I did.

6) After pulling into the complex, I get almost to the parking garage and ....... Halee died. The power went (steering and all), the engine shut off, and I am now trying to maneuver a lifeless car out of the "FIRE LANE.... NO PARKING" zone, but to no avail. Halee died right in the middle of the drive-thru area to the parking garage, sweet.

7) Jason had to leave his online GMAT class to run outside and find me, and help push my car out of the way, but still in the no-parking-zone. Now.... I should have just left my car, but it needed to be fixed that night, seeing as how my future employer was expecting me at 8am to go over paperwork and such the next morning.

8) Jason goes back to his GMAT class, but then runs out during the 5 minute break as I hold a flash light and we have to hurry and unhook Halee's battery and throw it in his truck bed.

9) Jason goes back to "class" and I venture out into the areas of Phoenix we usually do not go "after dark," but feeling slightly empowered because I was in a truck and had a baseball bat. I found a Checker Auto Parts a few minutes before they closed and Purchased a new battery for Halee.... I guess battery's are only supposed to last a few years. Halee has the ORIGINAL battery that was in her when I bought her brand new.... 7 years ago! lol. Woops.
And this blasted battery was $107 after tax! Ouch!

Good news is that:
1) Jason DID buy me beautiful flowers (lilies and roses.... I LOVE LILIES!) for our anniversary
2) We successfully put in Halee's battery after Jason's class, and she hasn't given us any problems since.
3) Our Dinner on Friday 6/18 at the Blue.... Grill was a success. Fresh Fish flown in everyday. BEST restaurant Halibut I have EVER had. Super moist and flakey.... mmmmm....
Crab and Artichoke Dip.... Delectable
My aforementioned Halibut..... to die for
Jason's Plate (some fish, which I cannot remember), served with a citrus sauce, edamame, baby carrots, and roasted lady finger potatoes. Scrumptious.

  1. Sounds so painful. I'm glad that all you had to do was replace the battery in your car. I loved how you present the chimichanga. Or at least how you took a picture of it. It was like you dressed it up a little. Congrats on two years of marriage.
