Good News: 1) The Job hunt is over, 2) I graduate on Thursday, 3) Jason and I run our first half marathon together on Saturday....Yipee!!!
Bad News: 1) The Job is not with Cardon's Children's Hospital. 2) Even though I graduate, I still have two weeks remaining in my internship (ASHA certification requirements).
Good News: I will be at an Outpatient (private) clinic with great staff and supervision, keeping my foot in the Medical Door, and it is on the East side of the Metro so I won't need to commute much!
Bad News: Though the salary is still a LOT higher than what I would get in UT, it isn't quite as high as a home health job I looked at.... However with a home health job you drive to the home of each of your patients, so it kind of washes. I LOVE the environment of Fiesta Pediatrics, and I will get a lot more training and support during my first year out than if had done home health and was going to homes by myself.
Good News: The Rehab Director at Cardon's called me and we visited for over an hour.
Bad News: She explained how much they liked me and how passionate I am for the field, but unfortunately they have had some changes within the department and do not have the staff support to bring on a CFY (clinical fellow) at this time. This is the reason they chose not to use me at this time, but to leave the position open to see if an individual with more experience they will not need to train and supervise applies to the position.
Good News: She told me the clinic I will be working at is a great one and will give me some of those necessary skills should I choose to take an inpatient environment in the future. She told me to stay in touch, and that she will let me know re: any good conferences in the future and future employment opportunities with their Facility.
Summary: Ended on a Good Note :) Sometimes we don't know why things happen, even though we feel like we are being led.... sometimes we don't know why or where we are/were being led until we look back on our lives. SO FOR NOW: I guess I'm just along for the ride :)
Yeah!!! I'm so excited for you. We for sure know all about that stuff not working out how we thought it should. I LOVE how it has turned out for us and I'm sure you and J are going to have amazing things happen. Congrats on graduating.
