Accordingly, I couldn't stick to the way we had been training (starting slower, and picking up speed the second half). WAAAAAAAAAY too hot off the line, especially for the first half of the race.... Meaning by 6.5 miles (~half way), I was losing energy quickly. DARN IT ALL!! That being the case, I guess I should be happy that our Chip Time showed 2 hrs and 5 mins and that I didn't just walk the second half. lol.
Lesson Learned= When the girl that is a foot shorter than you passes you..... STICK TO YOUR PACE!......... When the 75 year old Grandma passes you...... STICK TO YOUR PACE!..... When the 95 year old man in a wheelchair with an oxygen tank passes you.... OKAY, By this point it is time to pick up your pace because THAT's a little ridiculous ;).
Jason and I enjoy running because it is something we can do together, and I am already prepping myself mentally to exercise self-control so that on the next Half Marathon, I can be counting people as I pass them on the second half... not vice versa.
Thanks to Jason's Sister's Amanda and Natalie for coming out to support us and taking all the pictures!!!! Too bad we didn't take a picture of Amanda's "Chuck Norris" sign. It was pretty funny. Instead, you just get to see the sign with the "intentional" type-o because Amanda claims it sounded better that way. She had a valid point. :)
This pic was Jason's idea...... To look like we were hanging ourselves. I guess that about sums up the way he TRULY feels about running. HOWEVER, though he may SAY he doesn't love it, I ALMOST have him convinced to do another half marathon with me in November :)
And Now for the Golden Question of the day in Memory of Collegiate Days.....
What part of my Body Became the MOST toned while training for my Half Marathon
A) Abs (good guess, due to core muscle stability requirement)
B) Legs--Calves(the most obvious guess due to the RUNNING factor)
C) Legs--Quads (another good guess)
D) Gluts (just throwing it out there)
E) Shoulders (CLEARLY the most outrageous guess unless one is running with Kung-Fu arms)
F) A, B and C... But not D
G) A and C only
H) A, B, and D... But not C
I) All of the Above
J) None of the Above
Drum Roll Please>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Apparently the Shoulders Have it! Don't ask me how, but I guess I must run with AWESOME Kung-Fu Arms! Who would have thought?
those, my friend, look like yoga shoulders.
ReplyDeletegreat work!
